I hit the ground running when I started my floral design apprenticeship last week.
It feels like I'm in the right place. Pictured above is my first arrangement. I was so happy that my first arrangement was in a vintage teacup. My Grandma Darby collected teacups and I feel close to her whenever I see a dainty vintage teacup.
I went a little crazy with the tape but I think she turned out lovely. I've got a lot to learn.
I spent the weekend at Midwest Rentals Bridal Affair. My first post pandemic event. I had a great time talking to brides about their wedding flowers. The organizers of the event made a Tik Tok of me and my coworkers doing a silly little dance to "Chapel of Love" by the Dixie Cups. It was a dance my family did in the front yard of my grandparents house when my cousin got engaged. We called ourselves The Empty Cups.
I was pleasantly surprised to see my cousin Phil smiling in the background of this photo of The Empty Cups. He was my first friend. He passed away about a month ago. He is missed by so many. At his funeral I found myself wishing I could trade places with him because he lived a life worth living. I've just been existing for so long. That's when I vowed that I would start living again.
Here I am, doing it.
This is for you SIR!

The "Chapel of Love" TikTok rocked! So sorry to hear about your cousin. Prayers & love to your family. 💜Mandora
