Working retail during the holiday season really is as bad as they say. I've been absolutely miserable. It felt like all the joy had been sucked out of my life and replaced it was hate and rage. I haven't even felt up to completing any of the tasks on the GISHMAS List (bit.ly/PlayGISHMAS2020). I was so excited about GISHMAS, but the excitement was not able to overpower the damage working as a cashier at a big box retailer during the holiday season in this global pandemic did to my soul.
It was intense and terrible.
Thankfully my hours have already started to get cut back and I am sure my days are numbered before my services will no longer be needed. Rather than freak out and scroll the internet searching for yet another shitty job I will certainly despise, I'm going to turn my focus towards working smarter. And at the same time incorporate my love for GISH. So my submission for Item 39 #GISHPersonalChallenge is for me to pursue my dream of making money being creative. It's time for me to turn Old Darb's Plastic Flamingo Farm into a real business. I am going to sell upcycled clothing, art and handmade gifts.
I can do this. I have the talent and the resources.
Here is my submission on the first steps I've taken this week for my personal challenge.
The first ReCreations by Darby and Kenn will be posted for sale over the next few days. I'm grateful to be going into 2021 with hope for a new and better direction for my life and a use for my talents.
And with that, I bid adieu to 2020! Wishing you all good health, peace and prosperity in the new year.
Love Life.
Be Art.
I always pictured you as your own boss! You'll rawk that entrepreneurship biz! I'll keep my eye out for your one-of-a-kind art. Hopefully, Kenn Dahl realizes he's gonna be chilly 'cause it'll be hard to keep them shirts on his back!! Luv ya!
